Biographical history

Sophia Marie Berthalena Hansen, later Kennedy, was the mother of Kenneth, Bob, Glen, Colin and Ivy Kennedy. The family was raised in Croydon, Queensland. Kenneth Kennedy wrote in the Croydon papers under the name of "Young Croydon". He left Croydon when he was 23 years of age for the far North to try his hand at mining. Kenneth moved to the United States in 1911, first to Hawaii and then to California. He remained in California for the next 15 years without returning to Australia. Sophia Kennedy died in 1926. Three of the Kennedy brothers served in World War I. Colin Kennedy, 41st Infantry Battalion and Glen Kennedy, 49th Infantry Battalion A.I.F. and Kenneth with the United States Air Service.
